Zdeno Chara Hits Max Pacioretty Into Glass, Causes Canadiens Forward to Be Removed on Stretcher – Boston’s Zdeno Chara delivered a brutal hit on Montreal forward Max Pacioretty during the second period of the Boston Bruins/Montreal Canadiens game.

According to reports from NESN and the Canadiens themselves, Max Pacioretty is conscious and moving all of his limbs as he left the arena and he was taken to the nearest hospital for evaluation. Pacioretty was unconscious instantly after the hit from Chara and was down on the ice for a good ten to fifteen minutes before he was stretchered off the ice.

The Montreal Canadiens medical staff is one of the better staffs in the National Hockey League and they were quick to Pacioretty after the hit. They also had Pacioretty stabilized quickly and on the stretcher in a relatively short period of time.

Mike Starr, Alice In Chains Bassist Dies At 44 – Mike Starr, former Alice in Chains bassist and ‘Celebrity Rehab’ participant, was found dead in Utah on Tuesday, TMZ.com reports. Police tell the website the rocker’s body was found in a Salt Lake City home around 1:45pm. The cause of death is still unknown. Starr was 44.

The bassist was arrested just last month for felony possession of a controlled substance. He was found with six Xanax and six painkiller pills at the time of his arrest.

“It’s a terrible shock and tragedy,” Starr’s father told TMZ on Tuesday.

“Devastating to hear of Mike Starr succumbing to his illness. So very sad. Our prayers are with his family,” Dr. Drew Pinsky Tweeted. Starr appeared on the third season of ‘Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew’ in 2009.

Apple iPhone 5 Rumors: Aluminum Backside, Redesigned Antenna – Already over the iPad 2? Here come another round of rumors for the next Apple device on the horizon: the iPhone 5.

According to Taiwanese source Economic News Daily, the next generation of iPhone will be a significant upgrade from the iPhone 4, released June 2010.

The site reports that the iPhone 5 will no longer include the glass back of the iPhone 4 and instead use an aluminum case, as in the original iPhone. Apple’s reason for the switch apparently has to do with scratching issues on the iPhone 4, as well as the problems the company experienced attempting to manufacture a white iPhone.

Also to be fixed: the much-maligned antenna. Rumors suggest Apple will locate the antenna behind the Apple logo, in an effort to deal with the exposed antenna problems of earlier phones.

Redondo Beach Fish Die-Off: Tests Show Oxygen Levels At ‘Almost Zero’ – An estimated one million fish turned up dead Tuesday in a Southern California marina, creating a floating feast for pelicans, gulls and other sea life and a stinky mess for harbor authorities.

The sardines apparently depleted the water of oxygen and suffocated after getting lost in the marina, officials said.
“All indications are it’s a naturally occurring event,” said Andrew Hughan, a California Fish and Game spokesman at the scene.

The die-off was unusual but not unprecedented.

“In the world of fishing this is an afternoon’s catch,” he noted.

Tiki Barber: Former NFL Player To Come Out of Retirement After Four Years – It looks like Tiki Barber has learned a thing or two from Brett Favre.

The former New York Giants running back’s agent, Mark Lepselter, tweeted that his client “has filed the papers with the NFL to officially come out of retirement.”

“After seeing my brother still have fun at our age, it reignited the fire. I’m really looking forward to the challenge of seeing if I can get back to the level of where I was,” Barber told FOXSports.com. “I started working out again recently. It kind of shocked myself. I still had a lot of the strength I had before. I’m really looking forward to making a return.”

Barber retired in 2006, two years before the Giants won the Super Bowl.
